Hailing from Washington D.C, Mic Mountain is an Afro-Latino Emcee and Producer of Native American descent. Mic’s rap style is inspired by his multi cultural background and he has had the pleasure of working with the likes of legendary Mellow Man Ace, Thirstin Howl the 3rd, Pace Won of the Outsidaz and Supreme the Eloheem of the Boot Camp Clik.
I got a chance to catch up with Mic as he prepares to release his third solo album The Warpath 3 and a project by Lee Majors called Verse4Verse Volume 4.0: Chinese Medicine which he produced.
Illy Vish: For those unfamiliar with you and your music, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Mic Mountain: My name is Mic Mountain and I’m the best thing since Taco Tuesday. Hahaha. No, seriously I’m an emcee, I make my own beats, design my own graphics, edit and direct my own videos…..I do it ALL.
Illy Vish: What came first… you as an emcee, beat maker, graphic designer or director/ editor of your vids?
Mic Mountain: Emcee came first but I became a professional graphic designer before I started a career in emceeing.
Illy Vish: If you only could use 5 words to describe your flow/ rhyme style what would they be?
Illy Vish: When did you realize you had a talent for emceeing?
Illy Vish: What artists are your biggest influences?
Illy Vish: What is your favorite song from your current project?
Illy Vish: Why is Sabado Gigante your favorite song on the new album?
Mic Mountain: Sabado Gigante is my favorite song because I feel my verse on that track, I produced and got my homie on it and my skills are at its peak on there. Plus, I’m speaking my native language a little bit in it which is Spanish.
Illy Vish: What is your favorite song you’ve ever done?
Illy Vish: Ok, random question time:
Are you a fan of mayonnaise? yes or no?
Mic Mountain: Yes, Hellman’s REAL mayonnaise.
Illy Vish: Female hip hop heads, a turn on or turn off and why?
Illy Vish: What is your most embarrassing moment?
Mic Mountain: Passing this girl a love letter I wrote to her in 7th grade all to find out she showed the whole class. Hahaha
Illy Vish: Who has been your favorite producer to work with?
Illy Vish: What do you feel you add to the hip-hop game that no one else does?
Illy Vish: Do you prefer performing in smaller or larger venues?
Illy Vish: Anything we need to know about what you have up and coming
Illy Vish: Thanks so much for the interview! All the best to you!
Mic Mountain: Thank YOU, luv!
