Mic Mountain - Hip Hop Emcee
Mic Mountain is an Afro-Latino emcee, producer, and cultural storyteller of Puerto Rican, African American, and Native American descent from the Washington D.C. area. Inspired by hip-hop pioneers such as Run-DMC, A Tribe Called Quest, and Redman, he began sharpening his lyrical craft in local studios at a young age. Over time, he built a reputation for sharp wordplay, vivid metaphors, and authentic boom-bap energy, collaborating with respected figures in hip-hop including Mellow Man Ace, Psycho Les of The Beatnuts, Thirstin Howl the 3rd, Prince Po, Pace Won, Tame One, Hakim Green, Shabaam Sahdeeq, and Supreme the Eloheem.
Blending multicultural influences with a deep respect for hip-hop's foundations, Mic Mountain's music bridges classic East Coast lyricism with modern independent artistry. With three mixtapes and nine solo albums under his belt, he has developed a consistent catalog that celebrates the culture while pushing creative boundaries. A major part of his signature sound comes from his longtime creative partner, DJ Erex aka Mr Scratch Hook, who has handled Mic Mountain's scratch hooks, cuts, engineering, mixing, mastering, and production since 2020. Together, the duo functions much like the classic artist-and-DJ teams that helped define hip-hop culture, with Mr Scratch Hook serving as the sonic architect and quality-control specialist behind many of Mic Mountain's releases.
Following the release of Born 2 Fly (The Soundtrack), the companion album to his upcoming documentary, Mic Mountain is preparing to release Recetas on September 15, the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month. The Puerto Rican-themed concept album celebrates culture, family, and tradition through songs inspired by iconic dishes and recipes. Featuring appearances by Thirstin Howl the 3rd, Powerule, and others, the album is dedicated to the memory of Mic Mountain's close friend Paco Loco, who passed away from cancer in 2026 and appears twice on the project. Whether through music, film, or storytelling, Mic Mountain continues to represent the Puerto Rican diaspora, independent hip-hop culture, and the timeless spirit of authentic boom-bap music.
